Iowa Wesleyan College: Atkinson is in his fourth year with the IWC baseball program.

2011: Played in two games, with one start. Had one hit in two at bats and scored one run with two runs batted in.

2010: Played in 11 games, starting five. Had two hits in 13 at bats and scored three runs. Also reached base four times on bases on balls and stole one base.

2009: Played in two varsity games, finishing 0-for-1 batting with one run batted in.

High School: Attended St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he played baseball and football all four years. Member of 2006 Illinois Class 7A state champion team.

Personal: Born Aug. 12, 1990. Son of Steve and Sue Atkinson and has one sister (Jamie). Majoring in Communications.
