Milwaukee, Wis.) is competing in the 110-meter hurdles at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, which begin today and continue through Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.
Brown will compete in preliminary heats Thursday scheduled to begin at 1:40 p.m. Central time. Semifinals will then take place on Friday beginning at noon, with the final also to be held Friday at approximately 3:40 p.m.
Brown enters nationals seeded ninth of 31 participants. His qualifying time of 14.51 set at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships on May 5 is an Iowa Wesleyan school record and the best in the NAIA by a freshman this year
Brown is making his second trip to NAIA track & field nationals this spring after also participating in the indoor national championships in March. He finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.18 seconds, earning All-American honors in the event and becoming IWC's first track All-American since Floyd Turner won the discus throw four consecutive years from 2004-07 at the NAIA Outdoor Championships.
In his first season with the IWC track & field program as a freshman from Wauwatosa West High School, Brown set school records in both the 55 hurdles as well as the 200 meters in the indoor season and in the 110 hurdles in the outdoor season. He is the lone Tiger athlete representing Iowa Wesleyan at the NAIA outdoor nationals.
