Tiger men's golf team posts consistent scores at Ronnie Eastman Invitational
ONALASKA, WIS. - Iowa Wesleyan College picked up its score slightly on the second day and finished a respectable seventh place at the Ronnie Eastman Invitational hosted by Viterbo (Wis.) University at the par-72 La Crosse Country Club.

The Tigers followed up Sunday's score of 322 by shooting a team score of 320 on Monday, finishing at 642 strokes for the tourney. IWC finished with three rounds in the 70's over the two days, and its scoring foursome of Blake Mitchell (So.-Loveland, Colo.), Trent Hoekstra (Fr.-Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Kyle Emerson (Sr.-Mount Pleasant, Iowa) and Zach Hale (Jr.-Indianola, Iowa) was consistent with almost all of its rounds near 80.

Mitchell led the Tigers by shooting a rounds of 77 and 79 (156 total) to finish 26th individually. Hoekstra was next, shooting an 80 on Sunday and 81 on Monday (161) to tie for 35th. Emerson was next, opening with an 85 before firing a 77 to place 37th at 162, while Hale tied for 38th with rounds of 80 and 83 to finish one shot behind Emerson. Clint Phelps (Jr.-Quincy, Ill.) also competed for Wesleyan and tied for 50th after rounds of 89 and 92 (171).

Grand View University won the team title with a score of 577. Shawn Keenan of Viterbo won medalist honors with a two-day score of one-under par 143.

IWC next will compete in the Ashford University Invitational Oct. 17-18 at the Short Hills Country Club in Moline, Ill.
