MOUNT PLEASANT - The Iowa Wesleyan College men's cross country and track & field programs have added their first recruit for the 2011-12 recruiting classes as
Jake Ayers (
Hamilton, Ill.) has signed a letter of intent.
Ayers is a senior at Hamilton High School, just across the Mississippi River from Keokuk, and has participated in track & field and cross country for the Hamilton/Warsaw co-op team known as West Hancock. He will run cross country for the Tigers and also will participate in middle distance events including the 800-meters and mile for the Wesleyan track team.
Ayers qualified for the Illinois state high school track & field meet as a member of the Titans' 4 x 800 relay team as a sophomore. He also just missed qualifying for state in the mile last year, and this fall participated in cross country for West Hancock for the first time.
An excellent student, Ayers plans to study Math Education at IWC. He is the son of Alan and Melissa Brewer.
