MOUNT PLEASANT - The Iowa Wesleyan College men's cross country and track & field programs have added their first recruit for the 2011-12 recruiting classes as Jake Ayers
) has signed a letter of intent.
Ayers is a senior at Hamilton High School, just across the Mississippi River from Keokuk, and has participated in track & field and cross country for the Hamilton/Warsaw co-op team known as West Hancock. He will run cross country for the Tigers and also will participate in middle distance events including the 800-meters and mile for the Wesleyan track team.
Ayers qualified for the Illinois state high school track & field meet as a member of the Titans' 4 x 800 relay team as a sophomore. He also just missed qualifying for state in the mile last year, and this fall participated in cross country for West Hancock for the first time.
