Open Letter to Iowa Wesleyan Soccer
To all Iowa Wesleyan Students, Faculty, Alumni and Friends,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Will Van Nostrand and I am the new Head Men's Soccer Coach here at Iowa Wesleyan.
Growing up in Louisville, KY I played club ball for Javanon SC. I played collegiately at Anderson University (NCAA Division II) and Spalding University (NAIA & NCAA Division III). Following my collegiate playing career at Spalding, I spent three seasons there as an Assistant Coach.
Now I am here in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, as the Head Coach at IWC. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to be here. For me to have landed in such a place as Iowa Wesleyan is truly a blessing. This is a college that is steeped in tradition and history. This college is surrounded by great people who not only care about this college but the students who attend and the alumni who have been part of this Institution.
It was obvious in my interview that IWC is going through a transition. What was more obvious is that fact that the college will emerge from this transitional period bigger and stronger than ever before. This is a great time to be a part of the IWC family.
As a new member of the college I am determined to help this school continue to head down the path towards success. I plan on doing so by turning this men's soccer program around. There is no doubt in my mind that with hard work, determination and support from the great people of this school, the alumni, friends and family of this program, this it can be accomplished. I truly believe that success can be found here in the near future for the Iowa Wesleyan Men's Soccer team.
There are a lot of factors that go in to turning a program around. For me, as the Head Coach, I know that many of these factors fall on me. With that, I welcome any support you can provide this program. The best way to support this program is to help in the recruitment of student-athletes here to IWC. Please reach out to me or those that you would feel could benefit this program and encourage them to be a part of the IWC soccer family.
Besides that, it is the responsibility of all of us to help lead, mentor and grow these student athletes into becoming successful people both on the field and in the classroom, as well as grooming them to be the future leaders of our society. Together, we the athletic staff, professors and the entire faculty can provide a great experience to all who decide to spend their collegiate life here at Iowa Wesleyan.
Please keep up with the program here on our athletics website here: http://www.iwctigers.com/sport/0/7.php . Here you can find the game schedule, roster and other news. Also, please follow us on twitter here: https://twitter.com/IWCsoccer , and on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/#!/IWCsoccer .
Please feel free to contact me via phone or email and my door will always be open. Thank you to all of you and I look forward to having you come and support the Iowa Wesleyan Men's Soccer team!
